Apple has introduced its iPhone 16 and 16 Pro with a new focus on artificial intelligence.
The new device packs a lot of features, including a new ‘camera control’ on the side that you can press to turn on the camera and adjust it. Its display and battery have also been upgraded.
But Apple’s primary focus was on artificial intelligence, or as the company called it, Apple Intelligence. While it showed off new AI tools in June such as message summaries and the ability to create and edit photos, the new phone is the first hardware product to be marketed specifically around artificial intelligence.
Chief executive Tim Cook said at a product launch that the next-generation iPhone has been redesigned for Apple Intelligence. This is the beginning of an exciting new era.
As in recent years, the iPhone 16 is actually four phones: a Pro and a non-Pro version, in two different sizes. The Pro includes better cameras and different content, and both the large and small sizes have been expanded.
Speaking at the unveiling of the new devices, Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said that these are the first iPhones to be ‘reengineered for Apple Intelligence’ and a new ‘personal intelligence system’ on users. will have a profound effect.
“The innovation and invention these products offer will continue to have a profound and meaningful impact on our lives,” Cook said.
“I’m proud of our teams and their achievements and can’t wait for you to experience these amazing products.”
These AI-powered tools use ‘personal context’ to provide assistance, such as editing text or notes in almost any app, or a video based on a typed description, Apple said. Find a specific photo or moment quickly.
These tools can also be used to quickly search for specific emails, flight details and other personal information, as well as provide email summaries and prioritize certain notifications, and users can create their own emoji or a new photo. .
Apple has confirmed that the new devices will go on sale on September 20, 2024, while the Apple Intelligence tools will be updated via a later software update.
Ben Wood, a smartphone expert and chief analyst at CCS Insight, says that while Apple hasn’t completely changed the perception that its phone launches are becoming less important, its new artificial intelligence K’s tools remained the center of attention.
“There’s a growing realization that smartphone updates have become a bit boring,” he said. Apple is not immune to this trend and is relying on software and artificial intelligence to breathe new life into its flagship product to rekindle consumer interest and encourage upgrade purchases.
